Biography:
Kirsten E. Moselund holds a M.Sc in Engineering from DTU in Denmark and a Ph.D in microelectronics from EPFL Switzerland. She worked for IBM Research Europe – Zurich from 2008-2021 in a number of different positions, lastly, she managed the Materials Integration and Nanoscale Devices group.
Since 2022 she is full professor of Electrical and Microengineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at EPFL. She is head of the new Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Technologies (LNQ) at Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI), where among other things she is responsible for the cleanroom and the ETHZ-PSI quantum computing hub. She is also adjunct professor at the technical University of Denmark, DTU.
She serves on a number of different boards, including – co-founder and executive board member of Swiss PIC, executive board of Swiss Photonics, the Swiss Quantum Commission, and the scientific advisory board of IHP Mikroelektronik.
She is co-founder and co-CTO of the start-up Rayd in London working on commercializing a photonic AI platform based on random lasing networks.
Throughout her career, she has worked on various topics related to semiconductor devices and technology development, such as low-power electronics, cryogenic electronics, neuromorphic computing, and integrated photonics. She is author/co-author of more than 100 papers and holds more than 35 patents.
